Aptitude assessments are designed to utilise psychometric assessment batteries to determine and measure an individuals ability in the various cognitive domains. These are used to determine the individual's capability of utilising these specific skill sets of skills in a certain field or with specific training.

The Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) measures specific abilities such as clerical speed and mechanical reasoning as well as general academic ability.
